At SafePower Safety Systems our technicians can install carbon monoxide alarms in homes or businesses. carbon monoxide poisoning has become the leading cause of accidental poisoning deaths in America. In Australia, this is also claiming lives. Carbon monoxide is an odorless, tasteless, invisible gas, which results from the incomplete combustion of fossil fuels, such as wood, kerosene, gasoline, charcoal, propane, natural gas, and oil.

Carbon monoxide is present in low levels in the air. It is formed from incomplete combustion from any flame-fueled (i.e., not electric) device. When carbon monoxide is inhaled, it passes from the lungs into the hemoglobin molecules of red blood cells. Carbon monoxide binds to hemoglobin at the same site as and preferentially to oxygen, forming carboxyhemoglobin.

Carboxyhemoglobin interferes with the oxygen transport and gas exchange abilities of red blood cells. The result is that the body becomes oxygen-starved, which can result in tissue damage and death.

Low levels of carbon monoxide poisoning cause symptoms similar to those of the flu or a cold, including shortness of breath on mild exertion, mild headaches, and nausea. Higher levels of poisoning lead to dizziness, mental confusion, severe headaches, nausea, and fainting on mild exertion. Carbon monoxide detectors are set to sound an alarm before the exposure to carbon monoxide would present a hazard to a healthy adult. Babies, children, pregnant women, people with circulatory or respiratory ailments, and the elderly are more sensitive to carbon monoxide than healthy adults.

Having the knowledge of where to correctly place the detectors and when they should be services is what our technicians are trained to do. We are also able to test the air quality in your home or business with our carbon monoxide testers.

Don’t risk the lives of your family or staff.

Statistics have shown that most businesses have incorrect placement or no safety signage on the premises. In accordance with Federal work health and safety or occupational health and safety, all business should have signage placed in relevant areas as required.

There are hundreds of different signs that are required for businesses to have based on the type of the business and the dangers associated with the areas within that business.

At SafePower Safety Systems our technicians can asses your business premises and then recommend the required safety signage and the areas that the signage should be placed. The objective of safety signs is to draw attention rapidly and precisely to objects and situations capable of causing specific injuries or accidents.

  • To alert or warn personnel about workplace hazards of which they may not be aware of.
  • To restrict access to areas that present dangerous conditions.
  • To inform people of safety requirements.
  • Provide general information and directions.
  • Remind employees where PPE equipment must be worn.
  • Show where emergency equipment or exits are located.

We can provide a detailed evacuation diagram for all businesses in accordance with the Australian Standard AS/NZS 3745:2010 which explains in detail why an evacuation diagram must be displayed.

According to the Work Health and Safety Act, a PCBU or Person(s) Conducting Business or Undertaking are required to take reasonable steps to ensure the safety of staff and visitors at each workplace. Having at least one Evacuation Diagram placed in a prominent location forms part of meeting that obligation.

An Evacuation Diagram is a pictorial representation of the safe egress routes, fire and safety equipment within a facility. The purpose of an Evacuation Diagram is to help ensure the safest escape of a person from a facility via the shortest emergency routes in cases of fire or emergency.

Evacuation Diagrams can be A4 or A3, we prefer A3 as they present additional useful information to a user and are clearer to read, in cases of emergency. all Evacuation Diagrams should be designed according to the elements and relevant clauses in Australian Standard AS 3745: 2010 – Planning for emergencies in facilities.

AS3745 prescribes that each Evacuation Diagram be reviewed on changes to floorplan and updated every 3-5 years as best practice. At SafePower Safety Systems our technicians are able to assess the requirements for the building that your business is in and then advise you as to what evacuation diagram you will need and the location.

What Is Microwave Oven Radiation:

Whenever a microwave oven is turned on, radioactive energy is produced causing the water in food to vibrate rapidly. This rapid vibration produces heat, which in turn, cooks the food. The energy produced by a microwave oven can also penetrate through living tissue which is why exposure is harmful to our health. Once you turn off the oven, the microwaves disappear until then, you may be exposing yourself to dangerous levels of radiation leakage.

What Causes Microwave Ovens To Leak:

Hard closing the oven door, dirt or food particles caught in the door seals and hinges, or basic wear and tear all cause the oven door to slightly separate from the oven enclosure. Once this happens, invisible, but highly dangerous microwaves leak through the small space and cause irreversible damage and injury to the user.

What Tests Are Completed:

The microwave oven is inspected for any obvious physical damage to ensure safety as per AS/NZS 3760:2010 and AS/NZS 60335.2.25 Household and similar electrical appliances – Safety – Particular requirements for microwave ovens including combination microwave ovens.

Our technicians test your microwave oven for leakage under the Australian Standard AS3350.2.25, clause 32 in regards to microwave radiation emission levels. Radiation leakage inspection involves the measurement of radiation levels around the oven using an advanced microwave oven survey meter to ensure they are below limits specified in AS3350.2.25. Once the unit has been tested and passed, a sticker detailing AS3350.2.25 certification label indicating radiation and power levels is affixed to the front door of the Microwave to clearly display that the unit is safe to use.

Fire hose reels are in most cases the forgotten safety appliance and are never used until such time as a fire occurs. Make sure that it performs correctly on the day that it is needed the most.

Fire hose reels are first attack fire equipment used to supplement fire extinguishers.

They are designed to be used to extinguish a small wood/paper based fire or to contain a fire while an area is evacuated. They should not be used on fires involving electricity, cooking fats or petrol/oil.

SafePower Safety Systems can undertake a FREE review of your site and advise you if you require hose reels in accordance with the legislation in your state. Our technicians will also be able to advise where they should be located.

Once installed fire hose reels should be regularly maintained so as to determine if there are any faults. The maintenance of fire hose reels can only be undertaken by a competent person. At SafePower Safety Systems all of our technicians are qualified to perform all fire hose reel tests.
